Woronora River kayak is an excellent paddle. A good place to drop your kayak in is at the Woronora River boat ramp. See the map for details. There’s a little sandy bit next to the boat ramp for easy access to launch you kayak into Woronora River. From the Woronora bridge paddle towards the Woronora Dam. It’s approximately a 6.5 km kayak trip to the needles. So it’s a 13km return trip.

For a slightly shorter paddle you can launch your kayak at Prince Edward park, see the map below. This will give you a 10km return trip.

About a third of the paddle you’ll see houses lining the river. Kayaking the last 2 thirds of Woronora River in awesome. You get a real wilderness feeling and it’s extremely scenic.

Once you get to the needles that’s the end of the road. I had a look around and couldn’t find any easy way to get around it. I stayed there as that spot is great and had some lunch. That have me to fuel to get back.

If you don’t own a kayak and would still like to kayak down the Woronora River, the boat shed at Woronora is where you want to go. Below is the link:

The have kayak’s and canoe to suit your needs. I used to take my two girls in a canoe and take them for a paddle down the river. The prices seem quite reasonable as well. Check out their site for details.

Next time I go out I’ll head off in the other direction towards the Georges river to see what’s out that way. There appears to be a few little creeks I may be able to paddle down at hide tide.

Enjoy your day out on Woronora River. I highly recommended it.
