Shepherds Lookout offers one of the best bushwalks in the ACT. The location is amazing being only a 10-15 minute drive from Belconnen. You first walk to Shepherds Lookout to get a birds eye view of the Murrumbidgee River and Molonglo River.

Once you’ve enjoyed the view it’s time to start making your way to the Molonglo River on the Molonglo Crossing track. The bushwalk takes you along the mountain ridge offering more fantastic view of the rivers. You can see where the Murrumbidgee River and Molonglo River intersect which must look amazing after a heavy downpour of rain. It still looked pretty good when I did it and it hadn’t rained for a few weeks.

The walk down the the Molonglo River has some steep sections. But I didn’t find it all that bad. Once you arrive at the  Molonglo River there is an rustic looking walkway bridge you cross. Once across a nice loop bushwalk awaits you which runs along the banks of the Murrumbidgee River.

As mentioned this is one of the best bushwalks in Canberra and I highly recommend it.
