Barren Grounds Bushwalk.
Hiking through the Barren Grounds nature reserve offers plenty of bird watching opportunities, spectacular views and a good range of walks at varying lengths. I did this hike in Oct and the range of wild flowers on show was amazing. The bushwalk is a fairly easy grade offering fantastic views.
Option 1 – Griffiths walking track 8km loop.
The Griffiths walking track is a 8km loop and is the heart of the trails in the Barrens Grounds nature reserve.
Option 2 – Griffiths walking track and Kangaroo Ridge 19km return.
The Kangaroo Ridge track takes you through heath land and show cases a large variety of flora and fauna. Kangaroo ridge adds an extra 11km onto the hike, however the views of seven Mile beach at the end of this trail are spectacular.
Option 3 – Griffiths walking track, Kangaroo Ridge and Cooks Nose, 25km return.
The Cooks Nose trail will add an extra 5.3km onto your hike. At the end of the track you’ll be rewarded with amazing scenic views overlooking Kangaroo Valley.
Note that all tracks are well sign posted on the Barren Grounds trails.
