Murrumbidgee River Mountain Bike Ride.

Mountain bike riding along the Murrumbidgee River discovery trail is an amazing experience. The Murrumbidgee track takes you up high to get that birds eye birds of the Red Rock Gorge, cascading waters and sensational rock displays. The river looks magnificent from this vantage point. You’ll also get taken down to the river to get a closer look or go for a swim.

Only half of the Murrumbidgee Discovery trail allows mountain bike access. I started my ride from Kambah Pool. Do yourself a favour and have a look around this area. It’s worthwhile chaining up your bike so you can go exploring by foot. It’s also an excellent place to have a swim.

About 3km’s into the ride you’ll come across Red Rock Gorge lookout. If there’s a better spot along the Murrumbidgee I’d like to know about it. This is a get place to get that camera out and take plenty of snaps.

From Red Rock Gorge you’ll get some more excellent views of the Murrumbidge and see plenty of Kangaroo’s until you hit Pine Island. Pine Island is another place to chain that bike up and explore the area. Also a great place for a swim.

If you still have enough gas in you tank keep peddling towards Point Hut Crossing. I had to bail out on this leg as time was getting away from me to make it back to Kambah Pool before dark. The disadvantage of riding after work.

Anyone with a bit of mountain bike experience would be able to do this ride without too many difficulties. I’d probably rate it as medium difficult, awesome ride.

I highly recommend doing this one. The Murrumbigee River is a gem.
