Hanging Rock, Blue Mountains

Sometimes bushwalking is all about the journey. But Hanging Rock in the Blue Mountains is definitely all about the destination. The views overlooking the Grose Valley at Baltzer lookout or Hanging Rock are absolutely spectacular.

Hike on the Burramoko fire trail for about 5km. At the end of the trail you have a short bushwalk to hanging rock.

There is a main track to an amazing lookout overlooking the valley. The are massive cliffs all over the shop so watch your step. Off the main track there is a goat track that will take you down to Hanging Rock. It’s worth getting a good close look at the rock. There is about a meters gap between the cliff and hanging Rock.

The mountain bike ride isn’t all that technical. A few large hills to negotiate and that’s about as technical as it gets.

While your in the area it’s worth checking out Perry’s lookout, Anvil Rock and Pulpit Rock lookout. The roads are unsealed to get to the lookouts. There were a few large potholes when I drove on them.

I highly recommend this bushwalk to Hanging Rock.
