Bundanoon Creek Kayaking

Bundanoon Creek is located just outside of Kangaroo Valley. Turn onto Tallowa Dam Rd and follow it as far as it goes. This will lead you to the Tallowa Dam Picnic area which has a couple of BBQ’s and normally some wild kangaroo’s bouncing around. This is where you launch. It’s only about 2 hours out of Sydney and is a hidden gem.

At Tallowa Dam there are 2 directions you can paddle. Go left to head down the Shoalhaven river or right to paddle on the Kangaroo River. To get to Bundanoon Creek go right on Kangaroo River for about 2.5km. Take the first left and this is Bundanoon Creek.

Bundanoon Creek offers amazing scenery with high steep rugged vegetated cliffs on either side, a forest graveyard to paddle through and a glass like water surface offering fantastic reflections of the area. This is caused by the dam flooding the area. You need to be a little wary of the submerged trees. I hit a couple but it didn’t cause any drama’s. The paddle up Bundanoon Creek goes for about 5km’s. For an extra 2km’s kayaking head down the Sandy Creek arm. It’s worth a look.
