Kokoda Trail Bushwalk, ACT.
Kokoda Trail is located right behind the War Memorial and is a 4.5km return hike up Mt Ainslie. Your altitude gain is around 250m so it’s no doddle. However the Kokoda track is extremely well maintain and if you have an average fitness level you should be able to make your way to the Mt Ainslie summit.
Making your way up the Kokoda trail you’ll be rewarded with sensational views of Canberra city. They are a number of plaques along the way commemorating some of the events that took place on the Kokoda Trail in Pupa New Guinea during world war 2. Well
worth a read and reflect on what the soldiers went through during this horrific period in our history.
If you time your walk right witnessing a sunset from the top of Mt Ainslie is something to see. But then you’ll need to hurry down before you lose daylight. Alternatively you can drive to the top of Mt Ainslie to enjoy the sunset without being in a rush.
This was a great bushwalk with amazing views along the way and a fantastic reward at the end when you reach the top of Mt Ainslie. Highly recommend doing this one.
