Stumpjumper 2018 review

Stumpjumper 2018

I’ve had my Giant Advanced with 26″ wheels for over 6 years now and thought I’d give a 29″ bike a go. The bike I decided to demo was the Specialized Stumpjumper FSR Comp Carbon 29 2018.

Wow, what a difference a 29″ bike makes compared to a 26″ one. Sections of my favorite locals tracks that I struggled to get over boulders with on my Giant Advance 26″ bike was a breeze for the Specialized Stumpjumper 29″. Those large boulders were no match for those massive 29″ wheels.

Ok, so I was totally sold on how easily the Stumpjumper got over obstacles. The other thing that impressed me was the speed of the bike. Compared to my Giant 26″ the Stumpjumper 29″ smashed it. The fun factor went up 10 fold.

The thing that has been delaying me getting a 29″ bike was getting around twistie single tracks. I got to the twistie section of my location mountain bike trail and thought if the Stumpjumper is close to my Giant bike then I’m buying it. To my total surprise the Stumpjumper was as good if not better then my Giant. I couldn’t believe how well the Stumpjumper grips the corners and few around the twistie sections.

Verdict, the Specialized Stumperjumper 2018 is amazing. Fast, just rolls over stuff and extremely comfortable. I’m going to give the Specialized Levo a demo as well. But at this stage I’m totally sold on the Stumpjumper.
