You have the coastal walk in the Royal National Park. Botany Bay National Park has it’s own coastal bushwalk which follows the coastline from the cliff tops near Kurnell. The views along the cliff faces is excellent. If you hear the surf is up this is a must do. Watching large waves pound against the cliffs is a great way to spend a Sunday.

Parts of this walk can be sandy as you walk across some small dunes. As well as the cliffs there are a few swamps to see and hear along the trek. The day I did the walk frogs were going for it. The sounds of thousands of frogs croaking sounded awesome. Some of the sandstone on this trail is worth checking out. The weathering brings out the colour of the sandstone and some amazing shapes to see.

You have a couple of options with the walk. Park at the top of Cape Solander in Botany Bay National Park, go for your bushwalk to Potter Point then head back to the car. The round trip is approximately 8-9km.

The other option is to get dropped off at Cape Solander and walk to Cronulla station and get the train home. This walk is a little longer at approximately 13km. But you don’t have to come back from the way you came from.

If your feeling like a real challenge you could walk from Kurnell to Cronulla. Get the ferry from Cronulla to Bundeena. Then do the Royal National Park Coastal walk. This would be 40km. OK, now I’m just getting carried away.
